So, how's the book doing?
Modest sales and touching messages
Some friends have been asking, “So, how’s your brother’s book doing?”
Sales have been modest. OK, very modest. This is not surprising since I haven’t been doing much to promote it. There was that piece in the CBC. Most recently, a friend of Pepo’s posted something about the book in a high school alumni group on Facebook, which triggered a few sales. Most gratifying to me, I received a few messages from his former classmates. Some even sent photos. I enjoyed the brief trip down memory lane as I read these reminiscences.
What a kind thing to do – to send me these notes and pictures. Here is one. My brother is in the bottom row, second from the left. His good friend Chris is partially pictured at the extreme left. My brother’s inscription reads: “To Mary Rose, the most beautiful makeup girl in the world.” In her note to me, Mary Rose said she so enjoyed applying and removing my brother’s stage makeup for The Wizard of Oz production because Pepo made her laugh so much. She added that he probably has the heavenly angels in stitches.
Since we’ve been housebound because of wildfire smoke (there’s a sentence I never thought I’d type), I’ve been working on submitting companion pieces to a few publications. I’ll let you know if anything happens!
